The Path we walk

So is this how we start? Do we start our small lives walking a path? That trail looks so lonely for one so young to walk alone. The person taking the picture must know the child, so why does he stand back and let him walk? Has the camera operator been to the end of that road, and knows that it is safe? Look how carefully the young boy steps. What does he know? Or is it simply that he knows nothing and therefore hasn't the need to rush? I'm sure he has run for a little ways, but in this moment he walks. And he walks lightly. His path is so long, and in every direction stretches out grass. We see only one moment and revel in the beauty of it, and rightfully so. But what does he see? What does he feel? I know what a man would see. grass. A path that goes somewhere he isn't sure of and grass. Do any of us have a path so finely cut as this road? and I'm sure the boy has wondered off at some point. He is only a child. His feet will get tired and he will turn around. What is it that he sees when he turns? what do we see? Is it the camera operator that drives us to keep walking forward? Some of us sit down on the road and wait. The boy sits I'm sure. Somewhere up ahead this path splits, and there are many who mill about deciding which direction to go. I wonder if the boy knows any of this? Would he stop and turn around now if he knew what he had to do, and about the pain, and about the confusion? Luckily for little ones, they don't worry about such trifles. They walk as long as they like and change direction with the wind. They are wise. This path means nothing to them. Little ones care not where there going but where they are. He is happy on this path for now and its that simple. So is this how we start? Did we ever see the trail that stretches so long before us? Is there any road so clear for us now? It doesn't matter, because that day was a beautiful day. The grass blew in the wind and the child walked and danced with the wind. He loved the sun. And the camera operator smiled, and decided it was good.
